Poultry Shows and Exhibitions Cancelled for 2015 Fair

Attention 4-H Poultry Members-Here's the information from the Fair Office on this year's fair opportunities.
"On June 1, 2015, the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) issued a statement cancelling all poultry shows and exhibitions held in Michigan as a precaution against the spread of avian influenza. This decision affects all 4-H poultry shows at county and regional fairs, as well as other local 4-H events, until further notice.
To abide to MDARD’s ruling about poultry exhibitions, Branch Co. Fair has chosen to enact the following for the 2015 fair:
1) There will be NO poultry on exhibit or sold at auction for the 2015 Branch Co. Fair. This includes chickens, turkeys, ducks, and geese. This includes Branch Buds (children under age 9) and Barnyard Children poultry exhibits.
2) For those exhibitors unable to exhibit their poultry, they have the option to exhibit market rabbits-and sell them during the auction. The requirement of exhibiting breeding rabbits prior to exhibiting market rabbits will be waived for 2015.
3) Other options available for premium awards are Poultry posters, displays, market books, skill-a-thon and interviews."
